I am supporting the forces against you due to your stance on the Shark Fin legislation. I will do whatever I can to prevent your election.

I supported the law bannning shark finning in Hawaii, which is the strongest law in the nation and possibly in the world regarding shark finning. I have passed the bill for a complete ban for posession for shark fins all the way to conference committee. You and many others have attacked against me, often going personal, while I am trying to make a decision on the ban of possession of shark fins is not good common sense on your part. On every issue I have worked on, people seem to think threats are the best way to go. I believe everyone, on all sides of an issue should be respectful and compassionate.

I am writing to you to express my disgust at your position in regards to the proposed Bill on Shark Finning.

It is time for a change, your opposition to this bill is in stark contrast to what the public want, although you seem to be only concerned with appeasing those in the shark finning industry.

This is hardly a personal attack on you, but if you wish to be elected, I don’t think your current position will help your cause at all.

I have some questions for you. What are your links to the Shark finning industry? How do you justify your opposition to the bill? What were the circumstances of your criminal conviction?

I trust you will be able to respond properly to all these questions rather than the copy and pasted responses above that are not fooling anyone.

Shark finning (fin and dump the shark’s body back into the water) in Hawaii is already illegal. I passed the bill that goes further, which would ban the possession of shark fins out of my House Judiciary Committee and all the way to conference, which just recently passed. How is that opposing the bill? Fight on the merits on the bill, rather than threaten or attack people personally. Environmentalists who threaten others have no class. Such negative tactics will only hurt your cause in the long run. I don’t know anyone who fins shark. Plus, like I said it is already illegal since Hawaii has the toughest law in the nation, if not the world, in regards to shark finning. As lawyers and lawmakers, some of us look at the big picture, balance and fairness under the law. Advocates will always view things narrowly and be one-sided.
