Hi Everyone!

Thanks for stopping by. It’s amazing how fast time goes by. I’ve been writing in this journal since December 2002, just after my entrance into elected office as a Hawaii State Representative. In that year, I also started my first business, an Internet retail store selling Hawaiian or island-themed products. I created this journal so I could share my political journey, as well as my experience in business and life in general. I’ve enjoyed not just sharing legislation and business projects, but also my interest in the arts and popular culture.

Now that I’m taking a break from public service – elected and appointed office, I’m going to put all my efforts, ideas, and passion into my business projects, corporate law, and real estate. I will advocate hard on behalf of businesses that need help with business law, transactions, business development, government approvals, legislation, government incentives, grants, and other issues through my law and business development company, JRK Enterprises LLC at https://jrkenterprisesllc.com

As far as my journal, I’ll continue to write about public policy every so often, but my main focus will be about positive living. I will highlight practices, services, and products that can help us to achieve a more happy and fulfilling life. Positive living is a way of life and it starts with each of us. If we can better ourselves by learning from others and utilizing products or services to help us stay on course, then it’s worth the try. I’ll also post music, art, and writings that can lift your spirit. Basically, I will do my best to showcase things that can be of value for your life. Take care, stay positive, and make the most of every moment.

Aloha Everyone!

This website is my new headquarters for Friends of Jon Riki Karamatsu on the World Wide Web.  I have been sharing with you a part of my life since the Fall of 2002.  It has been a great journey.  I have had a lot of success and good times.  On the other hand, I have also made mistakes and understand that I need to keep improving myself.

I will continue to share with you my policy ideas, legislation, legislative appropriations, speeches, philosophy, creative writing, events, and personal life.  To show a little bit more of who I am, I am happy to show you my artistic side as well.  Thus, I share with you pictures, videos, music, and business ventures.  I want to encourage critical thinking and public service, but I also want you to enjoy life and have fun.  It is my hope that this website attracts a wide range of demographics.  Therefore, I decided to move to WordPress.com to diversify my communication to you.  My journal entries dated from 2002 in livejournal.com has been inputted here as well.

A lot has changed since 2002.  Many politicians and journalists have their own blogs now!  In the past, the Honolulu Weekly and Honolulu Star Bulletin has quoted me from my Internet journal for a couple of their news articles.  In 2006, I was inteviewed by Time Magazine because of my Internet journal and featured in their December 18, 2006 issue.

I look forward to sharing with you many more exciting things!  I hope my life ventures impact you in a positive way or at least inspire your constructive thoughts.  My ultimate quest is to be compassionate, happy, and at peace.  Likewise, I hope I can play a small role in helping you and others to be compassionate, happy, and at peace as well.
