I will build a spaceship for you.
That will take you up to the stars tonight.
It will be a spaceship for two.
If you’re going to make it to the moon – I will be right there by your side.
I just want to laugh with you.
Leave the world and start anew.
We just got to try.

Today was one of the best days of 2015! I found out good news from my baby sister Lara Karamatsu that will change her life! Also, my friend Melvin G. Mason Jr. and I hit a milestone for our largest business project that includes 4 other team members in our management company. I also have other friends who I’m working with on other projects. There have been so many ups and downs, and we still haven’t truly bore the fruits of our work yet, but the risk-taking and journey is worth it. Though anxious, I’m even more excited on what the future will bring. I dedicate this song to my loved ones/friends/business partners!

Oxytocin creates intimacy, trust, and builds healthy relationships. It’s released by men and women during orgasm, and by mothers during childbirth and breastfeeding. Often referred to as the cuddle hormone, a simple way to keep oxytocin flowing is to give someone a hug. Intimacy or even several hugs a day is what we need. Having human touch is critical, but for those of us who are single and live alone, we don’t get much of this. With this issue in mind, in 2008, when I was in the Hawaii State Legislature, I joked with my close friends that I wanted to create the legal guidelines for a cuddling program where the private sector can provide cuddling services called “Cuddle Care” for adults 18 and over and “Snuggle Care” for seniors 65 and older at a discounted rate. Ironically, in 2012, Japan launched its first “cuddle cafe” where customers can pay to cuddle with a professional cuddler. Hmm? Anyone up for some Cuddle Care and Snuggle Care legislation?

Show me to a higher place. Take me to outer space. I want you to be my friend. We’ll make it to the world ends.
Don’t give me love governed by life. Limited by these worldly heights. I want a love that the universe can never stop – can never hurt. I want a love that will last after this world is our past. A love that no time could erase. A love in a higher place.

Every so often something crazy happens in our lives that makes us reflect. Physical violence, verbal violence, anger, jealousy, and resentment seems to haunt us as we try to progress in life. Yet through it all, we try to forgive those who attack us, and progress as better human beings. It’s important that we persevere and not give up in the goodness that exists in humankind. We must keep striving for our vision of peace and happiness, and not get blinded by the headlights of negativity.

Our past and our future. Sometimes it’s hard to understand it. What if things happened differently? Or maybe nothing needs to change, as everything is suppose to be the way they are. All we know is, that our feelings are deeply sincere. So much so that it pains us. Even if what we desire exists only in our imagination, at least it exists. These thoughts have given me a 4th story to write for some time now, as soon as I finish writing my 2nd and 3rd one.
In the spirit of Love Fest Hawaii (http://lovefesthawaii.com) to be held at Hawaii Events Center, 985 Dillingham Boulevard, Honolulu, Hawaii on 11/13/2015 & 11/14/2015, I dedicate this song to all of you who are sad and alone.

I kept watching “Biri Gyaru” or otherwise known as “Flying Colors” while flying on Korean Airlines on 9/26/2015, 9/27/2015, and 9/30/2015. I have to admit that this movie made me cry each time I watched it. The movie is based off of a novel that is based off of a true story about an underachieving high school student named Sayaka Kudo who lives the “gyaru” style of dressing with short mini-skirts and dyed blonde hair. Sayaka is no airhead, though, and when a cram school instructor recognizes her true intelligence, he inspires her to buckle down and study hard to turn her academic life around so that Sayaka can pass the entrance exam to Keio University after she graduates high school.
This movie was emotionally moving for me because many of us have strived for our dreams by working hard against overwhelming odds, doubts by others, and even attacks fueled by jealousy. We’ve achieved some of our dreams while failing others, but even with the failures, often times we came very close to getting what we wanted, and the secondary goals were quite fulfilling, and almost always, new opportunities were revealed while on the journey, thus opening the way for new dreams to be born.
If any of you know the song that was played in the last scene of the movie that has the lyrics “brand new day” in it, please let me know. Thank you!

In the Spring of 2013, by chance, I found Jasmine Thompson’s music on Youtube as I was looking for songs by certain artists. I like her voice because it sounds so angelic. Recently, she has had some commercial success with some of her songs as well as being the vocals for some EDM songs produced by DJ-Producers such as German DJ Felix Jaehn.
Below is Jasmine’s wonderful cover of Beyonce’s “Halo.” If I could ever be so lucky to get my first novel published and produced into a movie, I would love to have her version of this song in the film to bring out the emotions that the characters go through.
Remember those walls I built?
Well, baby they’re tumbling down.
They didn’t even put up a fight.
They didn’t even make a sound.
I found a way to let you in.
But, I never really had a doubt.
Standing in the light of your halo.
I got my angel now.
It’s like I’ve been awakened.
Every rule I had you breakin’.
It’s the risk that I’m taking.
I ain’t never gonna shut you out.
Everywhere I’m looking now.
I’m surrounded by your embrace.
Baby, I can see your halo.
You know you’re my saving grace.
You’re everything I need and more.
It’s written all over your face.
Baby, I can see your halo.
Pray it won’t fade away.
Hit me like a ray of sun.
Burning through my darkest night.
You’re the only one that I want.
Think I’m addicted to your light.
I swore I’d never fall again.
But this don’t even feel like falling.
Gravity can’t forget to pull me back to the ground again.
And it’s like I’ve been awakened.
Baby, I can feel your halo.
Pray it won’t fade away.
I can see your halo.

Oh Cherry oh, Cherry oh, baby,
Don`t you know I`m in love with you?
If you don`t believe it`s true,
What else is there for me to do?
Look how long I`ve been waiting,
For you to come right in.
And now that we are together,
Please make all my joys come over.
(Chorus)
Whoa -oh-oh-oh oh oh oh oh
Whoa -oh-oh-oh oh oh oh oh
Yea-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay
Yea-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay
Oh Cherry, oh, Cherry, oh, baby,
Don`t you see I`m in love with you?
If you don`t believe I do,
Then why don`t you try me?
I will never let you down,
I will never make you wear no frown.
If you say that you love me madly,
Well babe I will accept you gladly.

I write fiction because I want to assure you that everything you’ve experienced in life had a purpose – the good and the bad. In my career, I’ve worked on and drafted a number of laws, but no law can ever express the emotions that I feel inside. Only a novel can do this. I want you to see the world that I see, and to share with you all that exists within it. Peace is within us.

As I write my 2nd writing project, a fictional story with Sadako Sasaki and all children affected by war in mind, I reflect on how precious life is and the innocence of every child. I think of my two-year-old niece Elyse and four-month-old niece Sophie. I can’t help but feel sad inside.
On August 6, 1945, the United States dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima city when Sadako Sasaki was only two years old. She was blown out of the window of her home, and her mother found her lying on the ground. Her mother helped her and her four-year-old brother flee to a nearby river to escape the fire, where they huddled together as the “black rain” poured on them, the residual radioactive material that was propelled into the upper atmosphere following the nuclear blast and fell out of the sky with rain water after the shockwave. When Sadako was twelve years old, she was diagnosed with leukemia as a result of the bomb’s radiation. With determination to live, she folded paper cranes, but sadly the disease took her away.
I dedicate the song below called “Tracking Aeroplanes” by The Echelon Effect to all the children suffering or taken away to soon by war. The music expresses the deep feelings that I have inside. I feel so fortunate to be able to live this long, and to be able to play a small role in making this world better for the little ones.
