I got out of my office and went to work at my fun office, Starbucks @starbucks @waikelestarbucks on June 25, 2019!! I bumped into an acquaintance from college. Also, as usual, my former business partner behind me was trying to get me to do free work for a former client. 😐 I’m a week behind on my internal deadline on one of my own projects.
Practices: Work at my happy office to increase my productivity. Listen to music to lift my spirits. Get those small wins by consistently working on my projects every day. Be present and grateful.

For the past few years, I feel like almost every month or two, someone I know dies. My last poem was about racing against time. It’s the 9th time since 2004 that I’ve titled a post on my website “Racing Against Time.” We have to go all-out on what we want to do before our time in this realm expires. I’m super #thankful to have lived this long and experienced many things I envisioned #accomplishing but I still have so much more on my mind that I need to execute before I die. My Swiss Army Knife from my parents when they visited Switzerland as they toured Europe some years ago. It has my first and middle name on it. I made the leather knife holder with my initials on it when I was a Cub Scout in Pack 75 of Pearl City, Hawaii and used it through Boy Scouts of Troop 75 and Team 75 of Pearl City, Hawaii and up to now. Scouting taught me about learning, teamwork, and perserverance. I had to use my knife’s scissors to open up a small package of snacks from Japan while I typed and read last night at Starbucks. Grateful for these useful items!

Getting pulled in different directions at the same time. How do I resolve this? By working day and night at my happy office, Starbucks. In my days as a politician or litigation attorney, I would have difficulty doing this. But working in business development and law, in-between my meetings, much of my work is reading, analyzing, and drafting content and transactions, thus, my mighty MacBook Pro computer can keep me mobile, productive, and connected. Why are coffee shops my happy office? (1) Positive energy from people working, studying, reading, or meeting; (2) I’m fixed to a table to work and just using the restroom takes effort, so I keep working as much as possible with fewer breaks; and (3) Beverages and food are available so I can remain working.

I find happiness working on my projects with my MacBook Pro at coffee shops where I can produce so much work compared to being alone at home. Here I am writing my second novel at Starbucks in Waipio, Oahu, Hawaii on the late evening of October 12, 2017. I finished 66,532 words for my historical, suspense, and romance story based in Iraq during the U.S. occupation. My goal is to write 80,000 words for this novel. My MacBook Pro is my partner and friend. Feeling so much gratitude for the simple joys of life!

Mindfulness is being present in the moment and making the most of it. The past is the past, the future will be the future, but we can do a lot with now. I immersed myself with the positive vibes radiating in the Starbucks coffee shop in Pearl City and savored the taste of my Salted Caramel Mocha Frapuccino as I engaged in my work on my MacBook Pro, my favorite toy for 4.5 hours in preparation for next week with all my business partners flying into Honolulu, Hawaii so we can meet with government departments and companies.

In the afternoon of Saturday September 2, 2017, I moved my work from my home to Starbucks in Waipio, Hawaii. I gave it a shot to try and finish an analysis on another redline of the contract for our land deal. I spent 4.25 hours, but it looks like I have to continue later. My energy level has been boosted though. I love my Apple MacBook Pro, which allows me to work anywhere and anytime!!! Let’s go some more!!!

Yesterday, August 3, 2017, I treated myself to Dunkin Donuts as a reward after I finished drafting a 28-page legal and business analysis for a land deal my business partners and I are trying to execute for a start-up company we are building. I worked 3 days in a row at Starbucks in Waipio typing this document for 7 to 8 hours straight a day. Dunkin Donuts recently opened a store near Honolulu International Airport, Hawaii, making its return back to the State of Hawaii. I gave my mom 2.5 donuts today when she came by to drop off food she made.
