I ran my 12th Honolulu Marathon on Sunday December 8, 2019! Here, I picked up my Honolulu Marathon Finisher Certificate at the Hawaii Convention Center on Monday December 9, 2019.

I ran my 12th Honolulu Marathon on Sunday December 8, 2019! I’m super grateful for my mom dropping me off near Ala Moana Beach Park at 5:00 A.M. and then picking me up later at Kapiolani Park where we finish the race. She’s been doing this for me for the past 12 races.

On Monday December 9, 2019, I picked up my finisher certificate at the Hawaii Convention Center wearing my finisher t-shirt.

My sister Mia convinced my sister Lara and I to run this marathon in 2008.  I’ve continued running this race ever since as an encouragement for me to continue exercising.

For 2020, I plan to increase my cardio and strength training to the level I was at 2017 and prior.  My business projects have been struggling so I’ve been focusing so much of my time on work and neglected my exercise.  I’m so pumped up to increase my training!

The news is filled with negative stories and gossip, stuff that will make you stressed, anxious, depressed, or angry. I stopped watching the news since 2015. 🙅🏻 I feel this has been beneficial for my mental and physical health.

However, once in awhile, I research news on the Internet regarding niche subjects that is fun or practical such as business, weather, or sports from my alma mater universities: University of Hawaii and Gonzaga University. When people I know die or a storm is approaching, I usually see these stories popping up on social media, through word of mouth, or notifications on my smartphone. 😊

You know yourself well. If the media is bringing you down, turn them off on all your devices and focus on things that lift you up! ☝️⬆️

Breakfast for energy, productivity, maintaining weight, and essential nutrients!


When I was younger, I often skipped breakfast and went straight to work. Now, I do my best to eat breakfast. Here are some of the benefits:

  1. Breakfast gives us that boost of energy to wake us up and move forward in our day.
  2. Breakfast fuels our brain and helps us with our concentration and information retention, key for our productivity.
  3. Breakfast helps us maintain our weight by increasing our metabolism to burn more calories throughout the day.

Growth Mindset


I’m a strong believer in having a positive mindset in order to be happier and more fulfilled in life.  In this post, I would like to point out the importance of us having a growth mindset, which is believing that our abilities and intelligence can be developed.  We can develop our knowledge and skills by reading and practicing everyday.  The more we work on our knowledge and skills, the better we get.  If we keep up this daily practice, over time, we may attain the knowledge and become very good at the skills we envisioned ourselves achieving.

I like to schedule in my Google calendar blocks of time to learning and building skills and I color code them according to the subject matter.  I count each 30-minute period of learning or practicing as a “win” in my Count My Wins program I created for myself.  This program gives me a natural high from the happy chemicals released when I finish each 30-minute self-development session. I’m a very curious person so I push myself even in areas I’m unfamiliar with.  I really want to become a better person mentally, spiritually, and physically.

1st Exercise of 2019


I ran 4.19 miles on the 1st day of 2019! The sun was out, and the air was crisp and cool. I’m wore my 2017 @honolulumarathon shirt, @asics Kayano 23 shoes and socks, @underarmour shorts, and @armpocket case for my @samsungmobile Galaxy S7 Edge. I really enjoy using my @bose soundsport for exercise and everyday use. In 2018, I exercised 214 times. I plan to exercise at least 200 times in 2019 but with more intensity. Death will come for all of us, so there’s no need for a majority of our bickering. On our last days alive, if we have that luxury, we won’t care about most of our disagreements and worries. Oatmeal as part of my Health Strategy


I used to be in the top 1% with my health examinations, but a year ago, my LDL or bad cholesterol went up into the high-risk zone. Stress from my high-risk endeavors and eating out with not the healthiest foods so I could keep working on my projects may have contributed to this. My HDL or good cholesterol has always been high, which helps, but I wanted to improve, so I’ve been eating oatmeal regularly, as well as brown rice, other grains, and vegetables to get the fiber I needed to take away the bad cholesterol. I also increased my exercise to help raise my HDL. This year, my doctor and I were happy I’m back in the healthy zone. Here I am on the morning of October 14, 2017, about to cook my oatmeal. May good health be with you! The longer we live, the more we can do!

1. Sleep.

As of now, I have 47 practices to keep developing my mind, body, inner peace, relationships, and projects. The top 3 practices for me is adequate sleep, exercise, and gratitude, which helps me to be productive and at peace. Exercised for the 117th time in 2017!


Today, October 3, 2017, I exercised for the 117th time in 2017. Early this morning, I lifted weights at 24 Hour Fitness in Mililani, Hawaii, and then I ran a quick 2.5 miles in Waikele, Hawaii before my meeting. Yesterday, my doctor and I were very happy with my physical examination results!

Step by step to get back to peak performance in our lives


Sometimes it’s a struggle to maintain consistency on our goals, whether it be for our career or personal life. I’ve been feeling fatigued lately so my level of effort on my exercise, meditation, and fictional writing has dropped. My main focus has been on my business projects, but after that, I feel tired and sleepy. I forced myself to run outdoors 2 to 4 miles a couple of times this week, and meditated while lying in bed because of my lack of motivation, and this has helped a tiny bit to keep me moving forward. Whatever it takes to keep us going right? Today, Sept. 23, 2017, I woke up with my hair standing up, and put my exercise clothes on to motivate me to go to the gym. Step by step to get back to my highest level of performance. If you are feeling down, I support your little steps to get back to peak performance. Benefits of Brown Rice


About 1.5 years ago, I switched to eating brown rice when I cook at home instead of white rice because of its many benefits. I still enjoy white rice every so often as a treat, especially when I eat at restaurants.

Exercise and Ocean Therapy Reduces Stress and Anxiety


Here’s a picture from my short 2.77 mile run along the coast of Ko’olina on 5/15/2017. After my run, I swam the length of Lagoon 4 six times. Exercise and being in and near the ocean is helpful in alleviating stress and anxiety. I’m grateful to live in Hawaii.
