My memories of you may fade, but my feelings for you remain forever.

My memories of you may fade,
but my feelings for you remain forever.
– Positive Masters, Jon Riki Karamatsu, 9/3/2020 –

I came up with this heartwarming quote while I was writing my first full-length screenplay in the lifestyle + competition genre that took me about 30 days to complete. I really like the process of writing a screenplay, which moves much faster and is much shorter than novels. Screenplays are a blueprint for the actors and directors to execute on to make a movie. For my unpublished novels, it took me between 4 years to 8 years to complete, so I really feel happy to be able to finish writing a screenplay within a month. I can pump out a lot more stories in this type of writing form. I love writing because it stretches my imagination and it’s very therapeutic.

No matter what time, no matter what place, my deepest love for you can always be retraced.

No matter what time, no matter what place, my deepest love for you can always be retraced.

No matter what time, no matter what place, my deepest love for you can always be retraced.

No matter what time, no matter what place,
my deepest love for you can always be retraced.

The outline of your bare body glowed in the dim light.
It was as if you and I had one final night.
I understood that nothing is immune from being replaced.
So I held you tightly to let you know that that will never be the case.
No matter what time, no matter what place,
my deepest love for you can always be retraced.

I hold the warmth of your lonely soul – Part 2

I hold the warmth of your lonely soul.

I hold the warmth of your lonely soul.

I hold the warmth of your lonely soul.

Let your fears go.

Let them fly away and dissipate.

That’s how we’ll make our escape.

– +positive masters+, Jon Riki Karamatsu, Poem, 6/22/2019 –

You can be physically lonely, and you can be mentally lonely. Your fears can control your mind. You may keep them within you because you don’t want anyone to see your vulnerability. However, by talking about your fears to someone who is understanding, that person may be able to help you to take the necessary steps to push away your perception of your fears, which are often distorted. Talk therapy or psychotherapy with an understanding person can help you break out of your blown out of proportion perception.

In nonattachment, a practice developed in Buddhism, feel your negative emotions but don’t let them be attached to you and bring you down. In the Eightfold Path, the first of the eight practices is to have a right understanding, which is to do your best to understand the truth. Ask yourself, “What is the truth to your fears?” Are your fears real, or are you imagining them? For example, if you’re telling yourself you’re not good enough to succeed, is that really true? No, you’ve succeeded before. Yes, you’ve failed in the past, but that was a part of the process of your growth that led you to succeed again. When you look back in your life, you’ll identify how you’ve made your comeback from your failures. You see, your fears are often filled with things that aren’t true. Don’t let your fears be attached to you. Understand your fears, and let them flow through you so you don’t get held back by them.

Another mindset practice that we mentioned in previous blog posts is the middle way practice that was also developed in Buddhism, which is to stay in the middle of your life’s journey. In this case, by staying in the middle way, you’ll be able to see your extreme perceptions of your fears at a distance to the side or both sides, but you can move past them as your proceed down the middle path.

Combine the middle way practice with psychotherapy, cognitive therapy, nonattachment, and right understanding as an arsenal of tools to overcome your fears.

I wrote the poem pictured in this blog post over a year ago. In it, the protagonist tells his lover to let go of her fears after she bravely reveals them to him (psychotherapy and non attachment). He not only keeps her warm physically, but mentally and spiritually.

With Warmest Aloha,
Jon

I’ve got you locked in my mental clock.

I've got you locked in my mental clock. A romantic poem based on my first novel.

I’ve got you locked in my mental clock. A romantic poem based on my first novel.

I’ve got you locked in my mental clock.

When I meditate, I go back to our first date.

A different time that no longer exists.

I say I don’t need anyone; yet, my dream persists.

I step into the stream where I last danced with you.

If everything isn’t true, then why do I still love you?

– +positive masters+, Jon Riki Karamatsu, 4/23/2020 – ✒

This love poem was inspired by my first novel (unpublished) about a young politician, Ken who’s miserable with the adversity in his career until he meets a young woman, Kaylee in a coffee shop in his dream – only this is not a dream but a place where lost souls are trapped. As he helps Kaylee to heal the emotional pain of her past, he soothes the struggles of his own soul. However, if Ken saves Kaylee from her suffering, he will lose her forever. To make things worse, there are dark forces who don’t want Ken to learn the secrets of their world. 📖

One of my favorite things to do is write fiction and poems that has a romantic element in them. Love can bring great passion; yet, it can quickly turn dark with sorrow. That’s why in many novels and movies, you’ll see a love interest in the story for that dramatic effect. So long as you can see romance as an adventurous journey rather than something that has to remain in cloud nine forever, you can appreciate its beauty. ❤

If I don’t find you in my lifetime, I will find you in my dreams.

If I don't find you in my lifetime, I will find you in my dreams.

If I don’t find you in my lifetime, I will find you in my dreams.

If I don’t find you in my lifetime, I will find you in my dreams. ❤️

Romantic love is one of those things that happens naturally. If you experience it, consider yourself very fortunate. There are those who never experience it in their lifetime. Some try to force it.

For me, romantic love is so powerful that the world can be crashing all around me but the feelings for the one I love somehow makes me believe that everything will be alright. Even if I never fall in love again, I’m extremely grateful for being able to experience it.

In my two unpublished novels, I created a love story as part of the bigger story filled with suspense, action, and history. I enjoy the romantic feelings so much that I enjoy writing about it so I can live it again through my characters. 📚

Hold me a little longer. I want to remember what this feels like.

they’re moving apart even farther.

5 Benefits of reading fiction! 📚📖

There are many benefits of reading fictions such as expanding your imagination, motivating you to be the hero in your life, increasing your empathy, learning different styles of writing, and reducing your stress.

Besides this list, there are many more benefits of reading fiction. These benefits are some that have been beneficial for me. I hope they helpful for you as well!

5 Benefits of reading fiction: 📚📖

(1) Fiction expands your imagination. You visualize the characters & scenes. 😃

(2) Fiction motivates you to be the hero in your life. In most novels, the protagonist faces obstacles to become a hero. Win or lose, you respect the protagonist for his/her tremendous efforts. Likewise, you can do the same in your journey. 👊

(3) Fiction helps you empathize for others. When you read fiction, you empathize for the characters undergoing hardship, an important quality to have in your life and career. ❤️

(4) Through fiction, you learn different styles of writing that aren’t usually shown in nonfiction books. 🖋️

(5) Fiction reduces your stress by taking you into other worlds and into the lives of unique characters. 😊

It’s too late. Where I’m going, you have to die.

I wrote this poem for Positive Masters at http://www.positivemasters.com & @positivemasters ✒

I met a girl at a coffee shop.

We fell in love. Then we fought.

She thought I lied about being alive.

I cried, “Let’s still try. We can still thrive.”

She replied, “It’s too late. Where I’m going, you have to die.”

– Positive Masters, Jon Riki Karamatsu, Poem, 10/4/2019 –

I based this poem on my unpublished first novel, a paranormal, suspense and romance story that I worked on from October 2006 to January 2014. 📖

I still love you even though you’re far away.

These days, all I do is work, living in the fray.-5

These days, all I do is work, living in the fray. 📖

I check off my calendar every day. 📅

Sometimes I pause and wonder if you’re okay. ❤

Keep shining from the other side. 🌅

I still love you even though you’re far away. ❤❤

I find comfort in the dark.

I find comfort in the dark.

When it’s still, that’s when she comes.

We don’t speak, yet we talk.

I play a song for her.

In the middle of my room, we dance.

Lovely Angel of Darkness

Lovely angel of darkness.

Why do you seek me?

Your smile weakens me.

Your words break me.

Is there a way to light up your heart?

Don’t let the darkness tear us apart.
