I had a nice 1-mile walk to my office, Starbucks in Waikele to do work this evening of 2/27/2018. The energy I get from coffee shops motivates me to accomplish some small wins. Started my early morning of February 13, 2018 with some oatmeal with banana, green tea latte, and a motivational entrpreneurial video. My goals for this week: update the business plan for our FBO company, complete 1,800 words for a total of 70,000 words for my 2nd novel, draft performance agreement and partner agreement for a concert I have a minority interest in, write the strategy for a variance request for the development of homes for a development and construction company I’m working with, craft some policies regarding land use for an agency I’m doing volunteer work for, run 4+ miles 4x, and review latest construction repairs for Jodo Shu Hawaii.

Awesome and inspiring 95,800 square foot maintenance and cargo aircraft hangar by Hawaiian Airlines on its 21-acre site at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu, Hawaii!!! The hangar can accommodate up to five Boeing 717 aircraft at the same time with indoor maintenance and cargo operations. On its lot, Hawaiian Airlines has a two-level office building and 143-stall parking lot. Hawaiian Airlines is one of my favorite airlines because of its friendly service and nice amenities such as its complimentary food and beverages on flights and mileage program with many vendors.

I counted 1,400 wins in 2017, the latest practice within my self-development system, an ever-evolving program I’ve used since I was about 10 years old. We’ve written our always-changing plan for our life, New Year’s Resolution, and our daily goals scheduled in our calendars. On top of these plans, I enjoy counting my daily wins, which keeps me moving towards my life goals and annual resolutions, boosts my happy chemicals of dopamine with every accomplishment, and keeps me mindful of all the good that is happening in my life daily, critical to show me that life is good, even during my darkest times. So count your wins – Time with your loved ones, win! Several hundred words for your document, win! Cooked a meal, win! Learned a new topic, win! Exercised, win! Kind gesture to another person, win! And on and on. Life is not just life, but an adventure.

Today was a good day for work. I will be working with a client, an entrepreneur with a one to one and employee coaching company. Submitted a document for support services for the aviation company I’m building with my business partners. The highlight was signing a land deal with a public notary on behalf of my business partners for 15.15 acres for our aviation company. I signed the agreement with my Parker pen, a college graduation gift that I’ve been using since December 21, 1997, which is also the date of my birthday. 2018, here we go!!!

Since April 7, 2015, I’ve been working quietly on a few start-up companies and taking in business clients once in a while that need legal or government affairs services. I often joke to my friends or acquaintances who wonder what I’m up to, by telling them that I’m training quietly at a planet in the outer rim called Tatooine where Obiwan Kenobi and Luke Sywalker were in hiding, and rebuilding the way of the Jedi. On the eve of 2018, I reflect on the things I’ve done in 2017 such as spending time with my family on 83 occasions or days; being with my sister Mia and her family who lives in the Bay Area, California for 12 days, and when apart, video conferencing them 27x with my parents and sister Lara; exercising (running, lifting weights, and swimming) 144x; running 550 miles; finishing the Honolulu Marathon and Great Aloha Run; writing 68,979 words for my 2nd novel; receiving a finalized land deal just before the end of the year that I will sign on behalf of one of the companies I’m building; working on 3 other start-up projects in the preliminary stages that’s slated for launch in 2018; and traveling to Beverly Hills, California in February 2017 for work and San Mateo, California in December 2017 to share the Holiday Season with my immediate family. Excited for 2018!!!

Also with us was Marlon Rimando. At one point in our career, Scott, Marlon, and I were sharing a warehouse by Honolulu International airport with a couple of other businesses for each of our Internet retail companies.

Yesterday, my mom dropped off turkey jook (turkey and rice soup) at my home. I’m super grateful for the thoughtfulness of my mom. I love her! Today, my energy is low, and I’m feeling mentally down even though I received good news early this morning on one of my projects, got a nice email from a new friend and potential business partner, and glad for a couple of decisions I made on two stocks. Yet, I feel down. Strange how we can have these mixed emotions. Thus, my mom’s soup really gave me some comfort today. I will attempt to do some work tonight to lift my spirit! Even when I’m tired, I get up excited to be working on a few projects that I’m passionate about that have the potential to positively impact Hawaii and the Pacific rim with more revenue, jobs, services, and products – maybe even the world. I fear failure, but I learn and develop relationships from both, success and failure, which continues to build my ideas, skills, and network, so like a music producer/DJwho mixes different sounds and talent, I can mix my ideas, skills, and friends across different sectors of our economy to create a different service or product for people to enjoy. When I was a politician, I did the same technique to create or better programs and laws. Building things through entrepreneurship and lawmaking is much more fun than fighting and breaking apart things through litigation, which I also do once in awhile. I recently got an arbitration case closed, which I’m so happy about. Here I am reviewing about 750 pages of documents for one of my projects. Notice I have my good friend, my Macbook Pro. I have so much gratitude for all the things we’ve done together. Have a great weekend my friends!!!

I just woke up from a bad dream where I was with one of the two former business partners who stole money from my other business partner and I. I woke up with my heart racing. I began thinking of my other bad experiences in my career, where certain judges and politicians punished me harder because of the high positions I held in government at a young age, to make an example of me before others and sometimes the public. Power and money play a role in making people do mean things against others. My good friend Brandon Mitsuda texted me this beautiful picture of Capri, Italy. I want to vacation there when things settle down. I feel much better. I know I’m on a better path now. I’m seeking peace within me. May peace be with all of you as well.

Sometimes it’s a struggle to maintain consistency on our goals, whether it be for our career or personal life. I’ve been feeling fatigued lately so my level of effort on my exercise, meditation, and fictional writing has dropped. My main focus has been on my business projects, but after that, I feel tired and sleepy. I forced myself to run outdoors 2 to 4 miles a couple of times this week, and meditated while lying in bed because of my lack of motivation, and this has helped a tiny bit to keep me moving forward. Whatever it takes to keep us going right? Today, Sept. 23, 2017, I woke up with my hair standing up, and put my exercise clothes on to motivate me to go to the gym. Step by step to get back to my highest level of performance. If you are feeling down, I support your little steps to get back to peak performance. I wish you the best in your efforts on your goals!!!

Mindfulness is being present in the moment and making the most of it. The past is the past, the future will be the future, but we can do a lot with now. I immersed myself with the positive vibes radiating in the Starbucks coffee shop in Pearl City and savored the taste of my Salted Caramel Mocha Frapuccino as I engaged in my work on my MacBook Pro, my favorite toy for 4.5 hours in preparation for next week with all my business partners flying into Honolulu, Hawaii so we can meet with government departments and companies.

In the afternoon of Saturday September 2, 2017, I moved my work from my home to Starbucks in Waipio, Hawaii. I gave it a shot to try and finish an analysis on another redline of the contract for our land deal. I spent 4.25 hours, but it looks like I have to continue later. My energy level has been boosted though. I love my Apple MacBook Pro, which allows me to work anywhere and anytime!!! Let’s go some more!!!

This morning of Saturday September 2, 2017, I’m trying hard to build energy and motivation to analyze another redline of our agreement for a land deal for a company my partners and I are building. I have a birthday party tonight, and tomorrow I have a Jodo Shu service and board meeting, a community event with my family, and my weekly Skype with my sister Mia and 2 young nieces, thus, I want to try to get it done in 3 to 4 hours today. I had about 7 hours of sleep, so to add to the energy I got from my sleep, early this morning, I exercised at 24 Hour Fitness in Mililani, Hawaii – weightlifting and running the treadmill. Then I cooked up some breakfast: bacon; omelette with 3 types of cheddar cheese, onion, bell pepper, and my homegrown green onions; brown rice with furikake; and Ka’u coffee. I keep telling myself for nearly 2 years on this project that the sweat, tears, and struggle will be worth it. I’m grateful to have this opportunity. Let’s go!!!

On August 30, 2017, I had a meeting at the State of Hawaii, Department of Transportation, Airports Division. In some ways, I’m continuing where my grandfather Maurice Karamatsu left off in his career at Hawaiian Airlines, Duty Free Shoppers, and the world of politics and business. Like him, I’m building projects around the sector of air transportation. It’s like he’s with me, guiding me through the ups and downs. Also, I’m lucky to have great business partners who strive for a win-win and the greater good.

Yesterday, August 3, 2017, I treated myself to Dunkin Donuts as a reward after I finished drafting a 28-page legal and business analysis for a land deal my business partners and I are trying to execute for a start-up company we are building. I worked 3 days in a row at Starbucks in Waipio typing this document for 7 to 8 hours straight a day. Dunkin Donuts recently opened a store near Honolulu International Airport, Hawaii, making its return back to the State of Hawaii. I gave my mom 2.5 donuts today when she came by to drop off food she made.
